About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for common health problems among students, following departmental and university rules, Maryland State codes, and established protocols. The role emphasizes illness prevention, health promotion, and the development of health maintenance.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for common physical and psychosocial health problems of college students.
Monitor health requirements and immunization compliance for full-time students in collaboration with the Administrative Coordinator.
Provide defined and specific health care to students and make referrals as necessary.
Monitor university students’ health care needs and trends.
Provide immunizations and administer medications and treatments as required.
Perform physical and psychosocial examinations of students.
Prescribe, dispense, or recommend medications and other treatments.
Consult with other Wellness professionals and follow through with referrals and appropriate documentation.
Supervise the processing of health profiles for incoming students.
Monitor compliance with Maryland State law and CDC requirements regarding immunizations, including meningitis.
Consult with other health care clinicians, and seek their consultation, to enhance the quality and cost-effectiveness of student services.
Collaborate with Academic Support to coordinate long-term medical excuses and contact faculty as appropriate.
Follow up with students after medical transports.
Collaborate with Wellness Center staff to develop student health policies and procedures.
Perform CLIA-waived testing, including rapid strep, rapid flu, and pregnancy testing.
