About The Position

Capital Health Medical Group is seeking a full-time Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) for a hybrid postpartum role spanning inpatient hospital care and an outpatient clinic. The practitioner will provide maternal healthcare after childbirth, supporting physical recovery, managing acute complications, addressing mental health, and coordinating follow-up care. The role combines inpatient postpartum rounding with outpatient reproductive health services to ensure continuity of care. The schedule consists of 8-hour shifts and requires 16 hours of weekend coverage per month.

Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program.
• Board certification as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
• Active, unrestricted Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license in New Jersey, or eligibility to obtain one.
• At least two years of clinical experience in Labor & Delivery or Mother/Baby (Postpartum) care.
• Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced inpatient and outpatient environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily physical assessments and clinical reviews for patients who have delivered vaginally or by cesarean section.
• Monitor recovery, interpret laboratory results, initiate clinical orders, and develop treatment plans.
• Respond promptly to patient-status pages, texts, and alerts, including urgent or emergent complications such as hemorrhage and infection.
• Provide breastfeeding education and conduct mental health screenings, including evaluations for postpartum depression.
• Coordinate comprehensive follow-up planning and discharge care.
• Conduct routine prenatal and postpartum clinic visits.
• Perform annual well-woman exams and evaluate acute or chronic gynecological concerns.
• Provide individualized contraceptive counseling and management.
