About The Position

As a Staff Provider, the Nurse Practitioner will examine and treat common acute illnesses, injuries, accidents and other injuries/illnesses. They will perform most medical services routinely handled within the scope of the advanced practice registered nurse’s practice and which the Staff Provider is competent to perform. This includes performing selected laboratory testing, referring to specialists as needed, writing prescriptions, and performing office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. The role supports and implements the organization’s vision, mission, and values, determining priorities and methods for completing daily workload to ensure responsibilities are carried out in a timely manner. All job functions are to be performed professionally and courteously, including answering phone calls promptly and providing excellent customer service. The position fosters a culture of service excellence and accountability. Key duties include acquiring and documenting relevant history and physical examinations, making competent assessments, developing treatment plans, seeking guidance as necessary, performing procedures competently, providing education, and responding to patient needs. The role requires working appropriate hours to minimize patient wait times and assist with overload situations. Professional communication and appearance are expected, along with participation in peer review, orientation, committees, and electronic medical record use. Discretion and judgment are needed for sensitive information, and compliance with organizational policies is mandatory. The role may require working at all locations and during all business hours, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice in Registered Nurse.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine or ability to be licensed.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work with the minimum supervision as dictated per protocol.
  • Ability to perform most essential job duties independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Flexible, detail-oriented, and multi-task effectively.

  • Follow rules, and guidance when directed from supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous ambulatory clinical experience above and beyond residency.
  • Prior experience with Patient Centered Medical Home model of care delivery.
  • Working knowledge of spoken Spanish.

  • Respond to patient special needs and appropriate requests including PAP drugs.
  • Work appropriate hours to minimize patient wait time as well as help to relieve overload situations/help other providers.
  • Act and communicate in a professional manner to reduce friction with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Attend appropriate meetings as requested.
  • Maintain professional appearance in accordance with QueensCare Health Centers policies.
  • Participate in peer review and orientation activities as requested.
  • Participate in committees when requested.
  • Cooperate with use of electronic medical records as requested.
  • Use discretion and judgment in handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Willing and able to work at all locations as needed to meet patient care needs.
