About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides medical evaluation and treatment for John Muir Health patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. The NP performs duties according to standardized procedures developed collaboratively by John Muir Medical Center administration, medical staff, nursing, the Supervising Physician, and other Advanced Practice Providers, and approved by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Board. The NP possesses preparation and skills in physical diagnosis, psycho-social assessment, and management of health and illness needs. The NP assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients, provides information to patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and offers counseling. The NP provides healthcare in a collegial relationship with physicians and surgeons to patients in a variety of settings. The NP performs required medical record documentation, patient messaging, and other required documentation. The NP does not perform invasive procedures or assist in surgery in the operating room.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN or DNP)
  • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing
  • NP Registered Nurse Practitioner - CA Board of Registered Nursing
  • NP-F Registered Nurse Practitioner Furnishing - CA Board of Registered Nursing
  • FNP Family Nurse Practitioner - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center or Related NP clinical license or certification through ANCC
  • NP Nurse Practitioner - AANP American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
  • DEA Drug Enforcement Agency - US Dept of Justice - Drug Enforcement Administration
  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years Healthcare – Experience in specialty
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association – OR – ATLS Advanced Trauma Life Support – American College of Surgeons - Preferred depending upon Surgical Specialty
  • Neurosurgery Experience
