About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner reports to the Medical Director and practices in collaboration with the Hospitalist team of physicians and advanced practice providers to care for hospitalized patients in the inpatient setting. Washington Regional Medical System is a community-owned, locally governed, non-profit health care system in Northwest Arkansas. Its 425-bed medical center serves the region through more than 40 clinic locations, a Level II trauma center, and five Centers of Excellence.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• Nurse Practitioner license.
• CPR certification.
• National certification.
• At least 3 years of experience in a previous acute care clinical nursing role.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical examinations to evaluate patients’ health and diagnose illnesses.
• Order and perform diagnostic tests, including x-rays and laboratory tests.
• Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, adjusting it when necessary.
• Prescribe and dispense medications.
• Document patient medical information and maintain electronic medical records.
• Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families about health problems, treatment plans, and home care; promote preventive care and positive health behaviors.
• Request consultations or referrals with other health care providers, such as physicians and clinics.
• Maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends and support research projects.
