About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner practices in collaboration with the Hospitalist team of physicians and advanced practice providers to care for hospitalized patients in the inpatient setting. The position reports to the Medical Director. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, diagnosing illnesses, ordering and performing diagnostic tests, planning and adjusting treatment, prescribing and dispensing medications, maintaining electronic medical records, educating patients and families, arranging consultations or referrals, and keeping current with medical research and trends while supporting research projects.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• Nurse Practitioner license.
• CPR certification.
• National certification.
• At least 3 years of experience in a previous acute care clinical nursing role.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical examinations to evaluate patients’ health and diagnose illnesses.
• Order and perform diagnostic tests, including x-rays and laboratory tests.
• Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment when necessary.
• Prescribe and dispense medications.
• Document patient medical information and maintain electronic medical records.
• Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families about health problems, treatment plans, and home care; promote preventive care and positive health behaviors.
• Request consultation or referral with other healthcare providers, such as physicians and clinics.
• Maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends, and support research projects.
