About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner joins Cedars-Sinai’s expanding Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) NP program as an integrated member of the physician-led pediatric critical care team. The PICU provides multidisciplinary care to critically ill and injured infants, children, and adolescents with complex medical, surgical, neurologic, respiratory, and cardiovascular conditions. NPs support the PICU, pediatric critical care transports, and the pediatric stepdown unit, collaborating with multiple pediatric critical care physicians and the broader care team rather than working exclusively with one physician. During daytime shifts, the NP participates in multidisciplinary rounds, manages an assigned group of patients, coordinates with consulting services, performs approved procedures, and assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges. An on-site pediatric intensivist is immediately available to the ICU and stepdown units 24/7/365. NPs receive decision and procedure support and clinical mentoring. The director of pediatric critical care medicine serves as the formal supervising or collaborating physician for credentialing and program oversight, while clinical supervision during a shift aligns with the attending-of-record structure. The daytime cardiac-focused NP will also develop expertise in caring for children with congenital and acquired heart disease and contribute to pediatric cardiac critical care pathways, education, and program infrastructure.
