About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner provides care in Cedars-Sinai’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), which delivers comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to critically ill and injured infants, children, and adolescents with complex medical, surgical, neurologic, respiratory, and cardiovascular conditions. The PICU NP program is expanding, and NPs practice as integrated members of a physician-led pediatric critical care team, supporting the PICU, pediatric critical care transports, and pediatric stepdown unit. The NP collaborates with multiple pediatric critical care physicians and works with the attending of record for each shift and the broader multidisciplinary team. Daytime work includes participating in rounds, managing an assigned patient group, coordinating with consulting services, performing approved procedures, and assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges. A pediatric intensivist is on-site and immediately available to the ICU and stepdown units at all times, with decision and procedure support and clinical mentoring available. The director of pediatric critical care medicine is the formal supervising or collaborating physician for credentialing and program oversight; clinical supervision during a shift follows the attending-of-record structure. The daytime cardiac-focused NP is additionally expected to develop expertise in caring for children with congenital and acquired heart disease and contribute to pediatric cardiac critical care pathways, education, and program infrastructure.
