About The Position

Axia Women's Health is a large, integrated women's health network serving women across multiple states. Lexington Women's Health, an Axia Women's Health care center, is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join their growing team in Lexington & Nicholasville, Kentucky. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Certified Nurse Practitioner (APRN - CNP) provides comprehensive, specialized care to women across the lifespan, focusing on reproductive health, gynecological issues, family planning, and wellness promotion. This role practices under standard procedures and legal requirements, conducting age-appropriate assessments, performing routine physical examinations including pelvic and breast exams, and PAP tests. The Nurse Practitioner also performs IUD and Nexplanon insertions/removals, Endometrial Biopsies, works with Pessaries, and may perform Colposcopies. They provide education on women's health issues, preventative care, and contraceptive methods. The role involves ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and providing expert care for women during menopause. Collaboration with physicians and other clinicians is essential for patient care coordination. The position requires systematic assessment of physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status, patient/family education, and patient advocacy. Consultation with supervising physicians and participation in department quality indicators are expected. The role also involves reviewing medical records, establishing effective working relationships, demonstrating knowledge of safety principles, and performing efficiently in emergencies. Proficiency in computer use for documentation and communication is necessary. Requirements

  • Must have active, unrestricted, KY APRN-CNP license and DEA.
  • Must be able to meet all credentialing requirements.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare principles, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, make sound clinical judgments, and adapt treatment plans as necessary.
  • Effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and procedures clearly and empathetically.
  • Strong computer proficiency and understanding and knowledge of EHR and healthcare technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education and stay updated on advances in Women’s Health.
  • Must be able to work at each practice location as scheduled.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MS, MSN, or DNP).
  • Board certification in WHNP, FNP, or ANP
  • Must have Ob experience.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an advanced practice provider working in Women's Health highly preferred.
  • Will consider new NPs with Obstetrics/Women's Health RN background.
  • Can perform both IUD and Nexplanon device insertions and removals highly preferred.
  • Experience independently performing endometrial biopsies highly preferred.
  • Colposcopy trained and independent a plus.
  • Ability to read mammography and sonography imaging.
  • Knowledge of lab order sets.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol.
  • Performs routine physical examinations within scope of practice, including pelvic examinations, breast examinations, PAP tests, and any relevant infection screenings.
  • Performs IUD and Nexplanon insertions/removals, Endometrial Biopsies, works with Pessaries - education & maintenance; may perform Colposcopies.
  • Provides education on women’s issues, preventative care, contraceptive methods, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Orders diagnostic tests and prescribes medications within scope of practice.
  • Provides expert, compassionate care for women during the menopausal transition (perimenopause, menopause, postmenopausal) by managing symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep issues, educating patients on treatment options (hormonal/non-hormonal), offering lifestyle advice (diet, exercise, supplements), and supporting overall well-being with evidence-based care.
  • Confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, collaborates with others in the department to ensure a smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators and participates in the overall coordination of patient care.
  • Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
  • Consults with supervising physicians or other clinicians as dictated by patient needs and assessment findings.
  • Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to ensure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators for patients cared for in the designated service.
  • Reviews medical record for follow-up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate people, and documenting events.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning.
  • Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.
