About The Position

Provide acute and emergency medical care in a remote Alaskan setting, managing chronic conditions, stabilizing patients for medical evacuation, and making clinical decisions with limited onsite resources. Beyond direct patient care, you'll oversee medical staff, guide clinical practices, coordinate medical evacuations, and help maintain a safe, prepared, and compliant healthcare operation. Project Site: Eareckson Air Station, AK. Travel, housing, and meals are provided. Schedule: Clinic hours with required availability for emergency response 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round. You must be able to respond within 30 minutes of emergency notification.

Requirements

  • Nursing degree from an accredited institution.
  • Extensive emergency room (ER) experience.
  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in at least one U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico, with authorization to provide healthcare within the applicable scope of practice.
  • Current certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Current nationally accredited Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, plus a DEA license.
  • Expertise in acute and emergency care in remote or resource-limited settings, medical evacuation procedures, telemedicine, teleradiology, and independent performance and interpretation of basic X-rays.
  • Ability to work in a remote setting with limited resources, respond to emergencies under stressful conditions, and remain onsite for extended periods.
  • U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident Card required.
  • Must obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) or equivalent Tier 1 investigation if working more than 180 days in a fiscal year.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
  • Experience in military or remote healthcare settings, including prior work supporting government healthcare programs.
  • Experience coordinating medical evacuations, managing remote medical logistics and supplies, and familiarity with mortuary affairs procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver acute, emergency, and chronic medical care, including life-, limb-, and eyesight-sustaining interventions until evacuation is possible.
  • Coordinate medical evacuations, including clinical and administrative arrangements, and provide mortuary affairs services when required.
  • Lead medical staff and oversee clinical quality, infection prevention, patient safety, and emergency preparedness.
  • Perform and interpret basic X-rays, provide teleradiology services, and collaborate with other medical professionals.
  • Maintain medical records, medication security, clinical policies, and required regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee clinic readiness, medical equipment, staffing plans, supply inventories, resupply coordination, and operational reporting.
