About The Position

This role involves providing care to patients established with Pulmonary Associates in a hospital setting, as well as seeing new consults during the shift. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for writing prescriptions, notifying physicians of new diagnoses, ordering patient supplies and equipment, and documenting patient encounters. Maintaining appropriate documentation according to the Alabama Board of Nursing and/or certifying body is crucial. Patient education on topics such as Metered Dose Inhaler, Peakflow Meter, Diskus, Diet, and Medical D will be provided. The Nurse Practitioner's primary responsibility during each shift is to the On-Call physician. Additional duties include scheduling outpatient procedures, ordering Home Respiratory Equipment or Durable Medical Equipment, and other responsibilities as assigned by a supervisor.

Requirements

MSN or Doctorate degree in nursing
Current Alabama license
National certification

Responsibilities

Seeing and treating patients established with Pulmonary Associates in the hospital
Seeing all new consults that come in during shift
Writing prescriptions
Notifying physician of newly diagnosed pulmonary problems
Ordering patient supplies and equipment
Document patient encounters with appropriate note (ie history, physical progress)
Maintain appropriate documentation as required by Alabama Board of Nursing and/or certifying body
Provide patient instruction: Metered Dose Inhaler, Peakflow Meter, Diskus, Diet, Medical D
Primary responsibility is to the On-Call physician during each shift
Schedule outpatient procedures
Order Home Respiratory Equipment or Durable Medical Equipment
Other responsibilities as may be assigned from time- to- time by supervisor
