About The Position

UCSF is hiring a Nurse Practitioner for its inpatient Obstetric team, which provides care to patients experiencing high-risk pregnancies, chronic health conditions, or pregnancy complications. The role provides direct clinical and consultative care related to obstetric care and fetal disorders, with an estimated 75% of time spent on antepartum activities and 25% on postpartum activities. This allocation may change according to operational needs. Clinical work includes daily rounding on patients admitted to or followed by the antepartum service, antepartum consultations before and often after delivery, evaluating patients in the Obstetric Emergency Department, assessing and escalating findings from outpatient clinics or the antepartum testing unit, receiving initial consultations from outside providers, communicating clinical plans to consulting providers, and addressing ongoing needs of patients discharged from the antepartum service. The position works collaboratively with a Maternal-Fetal Medicine attending, MFM fellows, OB/GYN residents, and nurse coordinators in a high-acuity labor and delivery unit. The role requires flexibility to practice at all UCSF locations and to work weekends occasionally based on operational needs. The position provides inpatient and outpatient patient care, care coordination, patient and staff education, and support to other clinicians and staff. NPs are expected to practice within their granted privileges and standardized procedures, maintain required credentialing and privileging, document care, and meet applicable clinical and billing policies. The clinical setting is inpatient, and the patient population is adults, including adolescent and geriatric patients.
