Requirements

  • Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or physician’s assistant (PA)
  • Active CAQH licensure in the applicable state required.
  • Active DEA registration required.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills required.
  • Ability to explain diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans to patients and families in an understandable and compassionate manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and detoxification protocols preferred.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and behavioral health regulatory requirements preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in behavioral health, addiction medicine, detoxification, or residential treatment preferred.
  • Experience treating patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders preferred.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and follow-up care for patients in detoxification, residential, PHP, and/or outpatient settings.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments including mental status exams, substance use history, medication reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Diagnose and treat psychiatric and co-occurring disorders utilizing DSM-5 criteria and evidence-based treatment approaches.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications and detoxification support medications within scope of practice and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director regarding complex psychiatric cases, detox protocols, and medication treatment plans.
  • Review patient progress and modify treatment interventions as clinically indicated.
  • Participate in admission approval processes and support medically appropriate patient placement recommendations.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and psychiatric consultation to staff when urgent behavioral health concerns arise.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within the electronic medical record system.
  • Collaborate with nursing, clinical, and operations teams to support continuity of care and patient safety.
  • Support compliance with Joint Commission, state licensing regulations, HIPAA, CFR 42, and organizational standards.
  • Provide education and clinical guidance to nursing staff and interdisciplinary treatment teams regarding psychiatric conditions, medications, and behavioral health interventions.
  • Refer patients to appropriate medical, psychiatric, and community resources as needed.
  • Maintain availability for clinical consultation during assigned coverage periods.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and case reviews.
  • Support a culture of compassionate, ethical, patient-centered care.
