About The Position

The Neurology Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced clinical care to patients with neurological conditions under the supervision and collaboration of a neurologist. This role includes conducting comprehensive evaluations, managing treatment plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and providing ongoing patient education and follow-up care in an outpatient neurology clinic setting. This is a part-time position focused on after-hours and weekend patient care, providing accessible neurological services outside of traditional clinic hours.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP).
  • Active Texas Nurse Practitioner license in good standing.
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP).
  • DEA registration or ability to obtain.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
  • Availability to work the required evening and Saturday schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in neurology, neuroscience, or specialty outpatient clinics.
  • Familiarity with EEG workflows and neurological diagnostics.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and patient evaluations.
  • Diagnose and manage neurological conditions, including those resulting from TBI-related injuries.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans in collaboration with neurologists.
  • Prescribe medications, injections, and therapies in accordance with Texas scope-of-practice laws.
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic studies, including EEGs, imaging, and laboratory tests.
  • Communicate diagnostic results and treatment recommendations to patients.
  • Provide patients and caregivers with education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Conduct follow-up visits and monitor treatment outcomes.
  • Address patient questions and concerns with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Collaborate closely with neurologists, medical assistants, EEG technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Ensure compliance with clinic policies, HIPAA regulations, and all applicable federal and state standards.
