About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner provides clinical services for the University Medical Center Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Clinic. They make independent decisions in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, assist psychiatrists within their specific scope of expertise, and work to improve efficiency, organization, and patient/clinic flow. This role also assists with day-to-day operations, resolves issues, and contributes to the improvement of quality of care, as well as patient and provider satisfaction. The Nurse Practitioner follows all established clinical procedures and workflows for patient care and communication, privacy/security, and other regulatory requirements. They partner with the enterprise services division of the college, including Health Informatics, Medical Billing, Medical Records and others to ensure patient billing and documentation are complete and accurate.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner Certificate
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Alabama in good standing.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the area of behavioral/mental health.
  • Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
  • Excellent clinical, organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with student patients, faculty, staff and other health care professionals.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment.
  • Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information and follow HIPAA regulations at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing behavioral health services to various age-populations, including children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources.
