Working as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide clinical health services for clients and members of our priority populations, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides specialized health care with a strong emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention within the scope of practice and standards of care outlined in the Expanded Nursing Services for Patients Act and Regulations and the Practice Expectations Specific to Registered Nurses in the Extended Class (NPs). The NP diagnoses and manages common health problems and diseases both independently and in collaboration with the client and the physician. The Nurse Practitioner works as part of an interdisciplinary team to address issues in the community that affect health. This role could include work at any GCHC site and could also include community work at partner locations.
