About The Position

The Division of Vascular Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, within the Smidt Heart Institute, invites a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join its multidisciplinary Vascular Surgery group. The division offers comprehensive evaluation and management for patients with vascular disease, prioritizing patient-centered care, cooperative efforts, and continuity during the surgical patient experience. The NP will work closely with multiple vascular surgeons and other members of the healthcare team while independently managing appropriate patients within their scope of practice. The position is currently outpatient-focused, with the potential to expand to inpatient vascular surgery care and rounding as the program evolves.

Requirements

  • Master of Nursing Degree
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (ANCC)
  • Current CA RN License
  • Nurse Practitioner and Furnishing License
  • NPI
  • Current DEA License (schedule 2-5)
  • ACLS

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner in vascular surgery, cardiovascular care, another surgical specialty, or a complex patient-care setting preferred.
  • Experience with preoperative evaluation, postoperative management, diagnostic review, and care of patients with complex vascular disease is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new vascular surgery consultations independently and in collaboration with vascular surgeons, as appropriate
  • Independently manage postoperative visits and follow-up care
  • Perform comprehensive preoperative histories and physical examinations
  • Review laboratory results, diagnostic studies, and other preoperative workup and identify outstanding clinical needs
  • Provide patient education regarding vascular disease, planned procedures, postoperative recovery, and follow-up
  • Review diagnostic outcomes and communicate clinically significant findings to the vascular surgery team
  • Respond to patient questions and clinical concerns through the CS-Link inbox
  • Complete clinically appropriate orders and requests routed by Patient Service Representatives
  • Coordinate referrals and collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support continuity of care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Support clinical research activities, including research study enrollment
  • Attend and participate in weekly educational conferences
