About The Position

The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner is a professional staff member who provides healthcare, evaluation, and treatment to patients under the collaborative supervision of a physician. The mission of Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services is to provide personalized, professional healthcare services to the residents of the communities it serves.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program leading to a Master’s Degree and/or meets the Advanced Nursing Practice or Physician Assistant requirements set forth by the Illinois State Board of Nursing or the Illinois Medical Licensure Board.
• Must possess appropriate certification and degree from a United States Institution of Higher Education.
• Must be licensed to practice in the State of Illinois prior to beginning employment.
• Computer literacy required.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years’ experience in Rural Health practice preferred.
• Knowledge in Substance Abuse Recovery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Practice under the supervision of the clinic’s medical direction.
• Perform physical examinations, laboratory tests and health screening measures.
• Teach patients all aspects of health care.
• Counsel patients and families on family issues as appropriate.
• Refer patients to other health care providers or community agencies when and as appropriate.
• Contribute to devising, executing, and periodically reviewing written policies/clinical protocols governing the services provided by the clinic.
