About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will assess, diagnose, prescribe medications, order tests and collaborate with medical team members to ensure the best treatment plan for each patient. As a skilled member of the health team who provides medical and educational services in collaboration with the physician. You may work with a wide range of patients and provide quality care from maintenance and prevention to treating injury and illness. This individual works within a cooperative department, utilizing team effort with health care providers, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the State of Wisconsin; certification as an Acute, Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant may be required
  • Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License, if applicable
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber Certification awarded by the State of Wisconsin., if applicable
  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the WI State Board of Medical Practice, if applicable
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of employment
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association (If applicable)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association (If applicable)
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License
  • Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology
  • A sound understanding of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
  • Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of disease prevention

Responsibilities

  • Stay up to date with latest evidence-based medicine
  • Prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses and provide treatment
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
  • Gather health histories, perform physical examinations and diagnostic procedures
  • Develop and implement treatment plans
  • Dictate and document all patient interactions
  • Notify managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems
  • Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families
  • Perform other responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the physician and within NP scope of practice
