Serves as a member of the critical care team by assisting in the management of critically ill patients in the hospital. Applies specialized skills and knowledge related to ICU, CCU, and CVICU settings. Contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting, and provides leadership to the organization. This role involves direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients, obtaining health histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and performing therapeutic procedures. The position also includes airway management, insertion and management of various catheters and tubes, and interfacing with patients using monitoring equipment. The role requires formulating and implementing treatment plans, assessing patients for changes in status, and initiating interventions. It also involves incorporating clinical research findings, supporting IRB-approved clinical research, and participating in quality improvement activities. The individual will serve as a clinical expert and education consultant, identifying and addressing educational needs of families, nursing staff, the healthcare team, and the community. Additional duties as assigned.
