Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant | Advanced Practitioners - Family Medicine | Day | Full-Time
About The Position
This role involves providing advanced practice care in various settings, including inpatient units, the Emergency Department, clinics, and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Responsibilities include assisting attending physicians with patient care and management, making patient rounds, contributing to daily care decisions, writing orders, consulting with physicians, and coordinating diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The role may also involve seeing patients in a clinic environment, taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, ordering tests, prescribing medications, and educating patients on treatment plans. Specific assignments may require Acute Care ARNP or PA certification.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant.
- Must meet requirements set forth by the Medical Staff Office to obtain and retain privileges to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant within UF Health Shands Hospital and/or the Shands UF Healthcare Network, as applicable.
- Current and clear license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Florida.
- BLS is required.
- Acute Care ARNP or PA Required (for ED and ICU assignments).
Responsibilities
- Assists the attending physician in the care and management of patients on Inpatient units.
- Makes patient rounds, contributes to daily care decisions, and writes orders.
- Interacts with consultants and facilitates/coordinates the scheduling of therapeutic and diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Makes frequent bedside visits to assess patient status and direct care.
- May see patients in a clinic environment.
- Assists Emergency Department physicians in comprehensive medical care.
- Provides diagnostic and therapeutic health care coverage for patients in a clinic setting.
- Takes medical histories and performs physical examinations.
- Coordinates lab tests, diagnostic studies, and prescribes medications.
- Provides assistance to patients regarding a plan of treatment and education.
- Shares call hours, phone coverage, and sees admitted patients within the hospital.
- Assists the attending ICU physician in patient care and management.
