About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant works in collaboration with a physician to plan and evaluate patient health care, examines and treats illnesses and minor injuries, and works with the facility health staff to implement the necessary patient care. This role involves daily sick calls, patient examinations, treatment implementation, and consultation with physicians and other health staff. The position also requires identifying and managing medical emergencies, performing annual physical examinations, ordering laboratory studies, classifying worker status, performing wound treatment, and providing discharge planning. All findings are electronically documented using the SOAPE method. The role also includes participation in Quality Management and Peer Review meetings.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in state of employment
  • Current DEA license
  • One year experience
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Current TB test (taken within one year)
  • Must undergo security training and orientation on facility safety policies and procedures
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test (as applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer and relevant authorities to assist with management of the medical needs and responsibilities at the site.
  • Take direction from the Site Medical Director and/or Physician, as well as the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Hold daily sick call, examine patients, and carry out treatments.
  • Consult with physician about non-emergency conditions that fall outside protocol parameters.
  • Carry out physician's orders and consult with necessary health staff to ensure the patient receives the appropriate physical/mental care, as needed.
  • Identify medical emergency conditions and provide appropriate emergency care, including arranging for transfer to the nearest appropriate facility as necessary.
  • Admit patients and coordinate with nursing staff to develop treatment plans.
  • Perform annual physical examinations.
  • Order appropriate laboratory studies.
  • Classify appropriate worker status.
  • Perform wound treatment.
  • Provide discharge planning as required.
  • Electronically document all findings using SOAPE method.
  • Attend and participate in Quality Management and Peer Review meetings/activities.
  • Assist coworkers in job duties and work overtime if required.
  • Act as a resource to other coworkers.
  • Maintain confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records and protected health information in compliance with HIPAA requirements.
