About The Position

OSMC is seeking a weekend coverage, part-time Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our organization. OSMC is dedicated to providing the highest quality care for musculoskeletal diseases and injuries within a patient-centered, service-directed framework. This hospital-based role in Elkhart, Indiana, involves close collaboration with surgeons and other medical teams, including the emergency department, hospitalists, and various surgical specialties. The APP will manage daily progress notes, construct patient castings, perform joint injections and aspirations, and manage wound vac placements. This position reports directly to the practice physicians and has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Chief Operating Officer.

Requirements

Master's Degree from an accredited (ARC-PA) Physician Assistant program
Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
State licensure as a Physician Assistant
Controlled substance license and DEA registration
CSR Prescriptive Authority
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Master's Degree from an accredited (APRN) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Program
Certification as an Adult or Family Advanced Practitioner through the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Nurse Practitioner Credentialing Center (NPCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
State licensure as an APRN
Controlled substance license and DEA registration
CSR Prescriptive Authority
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Nice To Haves

5+ years' experience in an Ortho setting is preferred

Responsibilities

Assess and treat patients using advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
Identify abnormal conditions.
Order and analyze diagnostic images.
Educate on pre and post-operative care.
Diagnose health problems.
Develop and implement treatment plans.
Evaluate patient outcomes.
Collaborate with or refer to physicians in the practice and community.
Assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, wound closure, and casting.
Construct patient castings.
Perform joint injections and aspirations.
Manage wound vac placements.
Manage daily progress notes on patients.
