About The Position

NaphCare is hiring Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to join their team of medical professionals in Wyoming Department of Corrections facilities. These positions involve managing all aspects of healthcare for incarcerated individuals. Full-time and part-time roles may be available. As a Correctional Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals, providing care in a controlled environment where security is a top priority. Your duties will include assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with a range of medical conditions and chronic illnesses, prescribing medications, and responding to emergencies. Requirements

  • Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate).
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in STATE.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician.
  • Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
  • Certification in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
  • Strong organizational skills to keep track of patient treatment plans and progress notes.
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct.
  • Compliance with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting physical examinations, developing treatment plans, and monitoring patients.
  • Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Administering medications and providing instructions to patients.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.
  • Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.
  • Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
  • Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting relevant information.
  • Conducting rounds and evaluating patients returning from off-site treatment.
  • Admitting and discharging patients from the facility.
