About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Surgical Oncology team at the Breast Center. This role offers an opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary clinic with the Pluta Breast Program of Wilmot Cancer Institute, collaborating with various specialists to coordinate patient care across the continuum. The position primarily involves direct patient care at the Pluta Cancer Center, with occasional needs at the Canandaigua and Brockport locations. Responsibilities include preparing patients for clinic, conducting clinic visits, providing education, performing pre-operative assessments and teaching, assisting in surgeries, managing post-operative care, and addressing symptom management. The role also involves contributing to process improvement, quality indicators, and the education of learners. Participation in community outreach is also expected.

Requirements

Current, active certification as an NP with NYS and active license as an RN with NYS OR active PA license in NYS with current certification as a PA by NCCPA.
Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner (for NP role).
Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing (for NP role).
Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing (for NP role).
Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner (for NP role).
Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program (for PA role).
Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing (for PA role).
Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (for PA role).
Excellent communication and team facilitation skills.
Demonstrate clinical competence.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills.
Computer competence.
Active desire to learn.

Nice To Haves

3 – 5 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
RNFA preferred (for NP role) as this position will include OR first assisting.

Responsibilities

Coordinate care for patients across the care continuum within a multidisciplinary clinic.
Establish effective communication interfaces with all disciplines involved in patient care.
Provide direct care to patients with benign and malignant breast disease.
Perform clinic preparation, clinic visits, education, and PRAT (PRe-Operative Assessment and Teaching) visits.
Assist in surgeries and provide post-operative care.
Manage patient symptoms.
Assist in the development of process improvement and quality indicators.
Assist with the education and training of learners.
Participate in community outreach and event activities.
