About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our innovative General Surgery team in Fargo. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced surgeons and APPs in a supportive environment focused on exceptional patient care, clinical excellence, and teamwork. Our established team includes 5 General Surgeons and 3 Advanced Practice Providers who work collaboratively to deliver comprehensive surgical and specialty care across the lifespan. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and decision-making skills to provide comprehensive patient care independently and in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. This role emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and compassionate surgical care for patients across the lifespan. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and exceptional interpersonal skills that foster positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited NP program OR Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program
  • Wound Care experience required
  • Active or able to obtain North Dakota RN licensure (NP candidates)
  • Active or able to obtain North Dakota NP or PA licensure
  • Active or able to obtain CPR certification
  • Successful completion of the Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state. (NP)
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in appropriate state. (NP)
  • Current certification in CPR. (NP)
  • National certification in applicable area. (NP)
  • Current licensure as a physician assistant in appropriate state. (PA)
  • Current certification in CPR. (PA)
  • National certification. (PA)

Nice To Haves

  • Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) certification preferred or able to obtain within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals.
  • Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Care for both pediatric and adult patients.
  • Conduct clinic visits providing education and personalized risk counseling for patients at elevated breast cancer risk.
  • Utilizes advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and decision-making skills to provide comprehensive patient care independently and in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and compassionate surgical care for patients across the lifespan.
