Locum - NP/PA - Urgent Care
About The Position
We are seeking Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) to provide urgent care services in multiple sites within the Richmond metropolitan area, VA. This is a temporary staffing position to cover a gap due to provider resignations. Clinics operate 7 days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM, with providers expected to manage all patients presenting during operational hours. The scope of care ranges from birth to end of life, with an average patient load of 25 to 50 patients per day, potentially increasing during cold and flu season. Higher acuity cases will require transfer to higher-level facilities.
Requirements
- Valid Virginia license (active).
- BLS Certification (active).
- DEA Registration (active).
- Minimum of 1 year in ED/ER, primary care, or urgent care setting.
- Board Certification required.
- Must have a clean background check with no malpractice or licensure infractions.
Responsibilities
- Perform laceration repairs (simple to complex suturing and stapling).
- Conduct incision and drainage procedures, including packing.
- Perform foreign body removals.
- Manage minor burns and skin lesions.
- Provide orthopedic stabilization, splinting, casting, and joint reduction.
- Interpret diagnostic testing and point-of-care lab results, including rapid tests for strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV, urinalysis, and blood glucose.
- Evaluate and interpret EKGs.
- Manage epistaxis using anterior nasal packing or chemical cautery with silver nitrate.
- Perform cerumen impaction removal.
- Provide airway support, including nebulizer treatments and initial emergency stabilization.
- Manage all patients presenting during operational hours.
- Transfer higher acuity cases to higher-level facilities (ED, ER, etc.).
