About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive occupational health services to employees, including medical assessments, treatment for work-related illnesses and injuries, and managing various health programs. The position requires a strong understanding of medical emergencies, diagnostic care, and relevant regulations. The practitioner will also play a key role in promoting employee wellness and contributing to the organization's continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
  • Three to five years of progressive responsibility in evaluation, diagnosis, care and management of medical emergencies, illnesses/injuries.
  • Sound basic knowledge of blood/body fluid post-exposure management protocols, mantoux testing and hepatitis B, measles and flu immunization practices.
  • Current Massachusetts Nurse licensure in advanced practice (for Nurse Practitioner).
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Current Mass Board of Physician Assistant licensure with a designated supervising M.D. (for Physician Assistant).
  • Current (National Commission or Certification of Physician Assistants) NCCPA certification (for Physician Assistant).

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of Occupational Health experience desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of worker's compensation, OSHA, ADA and DPH regulations.
  • COHN-S, CCM preferred.
  • US Department of Justice and Massachusetts’ Controlled Substance DEA Registrations are required for prescribing practitioners.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preplacement medical examinations for new employees.
  • Provide medical assessments and health services to employees who become ill or injured at work in conjunction with the Emergency Center.
  • Provide medical review of surveillance/immunization records of contracted employees, physicians, volunteers and others.
  • Assist with Tuberculosis Surveillance/Hepatitis B Immunization programs and provide mantoux skin testing, inoculations and vaccines for employees per hospital policy.
  • Perform return to work assessments to ensure fitness for duty and safe workplace environment.
  • Promote and provide preventative health and wellness counseling.
  • Assist with coordination of care; physician referrals, transitional duties, and so forth.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through approved seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Challenges current working practices; identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management.
  • Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.
