Full-time Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Medical Oncology - Vassar Brothers Medical Center (75 minutes north of New York City)
About The Position
Vassar Brothers Medical Center, located in Poughkeepsie, New York, is seeking a primarily outpatient Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in collaboration with its growing Medical Oncology team. This position will coordinate, oversee and provide advanced nursing care to medical oncology patients. The role involves working collaboratively with physicians and nurses to provide comprehensive care to patients. Vassar Brothers Medical Center is a 365-bed tertiary care hospital providing acute and critical emergency care, with established centers of excellence in cardiac services, cancer care, and women and children’s health services. It is consistently ranked as one of the strongest cardiac programs in the United States.
Requirements
- Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with physicians and nurses and is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients
- Conducts comprehensive and episodic heath history and physical assessment of patients
- Oversees treatment infusions and supportive care needs
- Writes orders within the limits of the practice agreement
- Maintains clinical documentation according to group practice
- Participates in clinical quality and research as needed
- Educates patients, families and caregivers on treatment plans
- Participates in learning opportunities
