About The Position

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will play an integral role in our inpatient care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to care for pediatric cardiac patients on the inpatient teams and consults, including the Peds CVICU and Neonatal ICU. You will participate in daily rounding and collaborate with attendings and the consulting team to adjust plans of care. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive daily physical assessments, ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory and imaging studies, ordering and prescribing appropriate medications, and developing discharge plans and providing education. UW Health's APP Advisory Council ensures that APP voices are heard, promoting, supporting, and advocating for APP practice. There are routine employee recognition and appreciation activities, and UW Health supports a unique APP leadership structure where all APPs report to the Department of Advanced Practice, led by advanced practice providers who advocate for APPs amongst UW Health administrators.

Requirements

  • If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program
  • If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program.
  • Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin (for NP)
  • Active PA license in State of Wisconsin (for PA)
  • Active board certification as a NP in Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, or Family Practice (for NP)
  • Active PA board certification (for PA)
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
  • CPR certification
  • Advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP)

Responsibilities

  • Care for pediatric cardiac patients on the inpatient teams and consults including the Peds CVICU and Neonatal ICU
