About The Position

General genetics and metabolic genetics specialists at UW Health in Madison, Wisconsin, help individuals and their families to understand and cope with genetic conditions, birth defects and other disorders. Our services include diagnosis, counseling, care coordination and referral. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient and ambulatory care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program (if Nurse Practitioner)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program (if Physician Assistant)
  • State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure
  • Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice (if Nurse Practitioner)
  • Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice (Family, Pediatric Primary Care, or Pediatric Acute Care) (if Nurse Practitioner)
  • Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice (if Physician Assistant)
  • Active PA board certification (if Physician Assistant)
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic evaluations and management recommendations for pediatric and adult patients with or at risk for genetic and metabolic disorders in both the outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Care for complex pediatric and adult patients with known genetic diagnoses such as chromosomal abnormalities, and malformation syndromes.
  • Perform inpatient initial consults and outpatient clinic visits.
  • Coordinate care for patients with complex needs including providing support, problem solving and referrals to other health care providers and community services.
  • Work in collaboration with a team of professionals including physicians, genetic counselors, registered dieticians, social workers, and nurses.
