About The Position

The Infusion Center is seeking an Experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Infusion Center team at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. The Infusion APP will work within our adult Infusion Center to serve as an infusion first responder, promote infusion service access and efficiency, and may provide urgent care/symptom management in close collaboration with longitudinal medicine providers. The APP is a licensed provider responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. The role may also involve precepting a small group of learners.

Requirements

Massachusetts Master's Degree Nursing or Massachusetts Master's Degree Physician Assistant required.
Massachusetts Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Massachusetts Physician Assistant required.
2 years of licensed APP experience required.

Nice To Haves

5 yrs clinical APP experience in an acute care setting preferred.
Demonstrated experience as a responding clinician in an acute care setting preferred.
Experience in medical or oncology focused infusion preferred.
Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition & interpret findings.
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Responsibilities

Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
Provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
Oversees the care of patients with complex medical diagnoses, serving as a first responder for acute reactions and medical emergencies.
Works collaboratively with longitudinal medical teams and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care across the care continuum.
Provides consultation to both nurses and providers to maintain and improve access to infusion services.
Serves in appropriate intra and interdepartmental committees.
Collaborates with unit staff, Professional Development Managers, APP Leader, Nurse Director and other health care professionals to meet staff and patient educational needs.
Monitors patient outcomes in accordance with defined standards of patient care.
Facilitates patient movement through the system and efficient use of resources through interdepartmental collaboration.
Supports educational efforts to advance knowledge and promote education-based practice.
Evaluates own practice and program effectiveness.
Responsible for own professional growth and maintenance of required credentials.
