We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Critical Care team at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, located at 789 Central Avenue in Dover, NH. This position offers scheduling flexibility based on the preference of the selected candidate. We are open to either a rotating schedule (days and nights) or a dedicated Nocturnist schedule. Day shift hours are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and night shift hours are 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The selected candidate will be expected to work ten 12-hour shifts per month, with the opportunity to pick up additional open shifts as desired. There is no call requirement associated with this role. The APP will provide comprehensive, high-acuity care to critically ill patients in a collaborative ICU setting, working closely with attending physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver evidence-based care. Responsibilities include the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of patients with complex medical conditions requiring intensive monitoring and intervention. Additional responsibilities include performing daily rounds, responding to changes in patient condition, coordinating care transitions, and participating in family discussions and goals-of-care conversations as appropriate. The APP may also support bedside procedures, consultation services, and cross-coverage based on departmental needs. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Nursing required
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse [APRN-NP - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • 2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience
  • 1-2 years required
  • At least one year of APP experience in critical care, emergency medicine, or another equivalent inpatient setting is required.
  • This can include completion of a residency or fellowship.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
  • Precepting a small group of learners.
