About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) [Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)] is a licensed medical provider who functions as part of a physician-led health care team. The APP manages patients alongside the attending physician, autonomously ordering diagnostic and therapeutic measures to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care. The APP continuously monitors and adjusts patient care, acting as a patient advocate and a liaison between the patient and the healthcare team. They coordinate care when multiple physicians and providers are involved and may provide additional patient care through standing orders/protocols. This role involves performing and assisting with perioperative and operative procedures, enhancing the continuity of quality patient care, amplifying communication, and extending the capabilities of the medical care team.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed medical provider.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant/surgical assistant program (for Physician Assistants).
  • Must be certified or eligible for certification by the NCCPA (National commission for Certification of Physician Assistants) and Pennsylvania State Board of Medical Education and Licensure or licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing Examiners as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP).
  • Successful completion of the MLH credentialing process through the Medical Staff office, with temporary or permanent privileges approved.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Provider or Board eligible graduate preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manages patients along with the attending physician.
  • Autonomously orders diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  • Continuously monitors and adjusts the care of the patient.
  • Acts as the patient advocate in the medical system.
  • Acts as a liaison between the patient and all providers on the team.
  • Coordinates the care of the patient when multiple physicians and providers are involved.
  • May provide other patient care through the execution of standing orders/protocols and/or routine patient care tasks.
  • Performing and assisting with perioperative and operative procedures.
  • Enhance the continuity of quality patient care.
  • Amplify communication between the physician, family members, and the health care team.
  • Extend the capabilities of the medical care team.
