About The Position

Join a premier Cardiac Intensive Care Unit caring for some of the most complex and critically ill cardiovascular patients in the region. We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to become part of a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary cardiac critical care team. This role involves managing high-acuity CICU patients with conditions such as cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, post-myocardial infarction complications, and mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, Impella, IABP, VAD). You will work alongside nationally recognized cardiologists, intensivists, and cardiac surgeons, with 24/7 Cardiac Intensivist Support. There are opportunities to participate in education, quality improvement, protocol development, and research initiatives, with no call requirements.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Experience as an Advanced Practice Provider
Current North Carolina NP or PA license (or eligibility)
National certification (AGACNP, ACNP, or NCCPA)
BLS and ACLS certification

Nice To Haves

2+ years of cardiac critical care, CVICU, CICU, or ICU experience
Experience with ECMO, Impella, IABP, and advanced hemodynamic management

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of critically ill cardiac patients
Manage vasoactive infusions, inotropes, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and mechanical circulatory support devices
Collaborate with physicians, residents, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and ancillary services to optimize patient outcomes
Coordinate care transitions across the continuum of care
Contribute to evidence-based practice, education, and program development
