About The Position

Atrium Health is actively recruiting a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Pulmonary Division at Carolinas Medical Center Main Campus. This position will focus on the treatment and management of patients with Asthma, COPD, Chronic cough, Interstitial Lung disease, tobacco cessation, early detection of lung cancer through lung cancer screening and incidental lung nodule programs, amongst others. The APP will be expected to manage acute and chronic pulmonary diseases inpatient and outpatient and is encouraged to practice at the top of their license. Essential functions include obtaining a medical history, physical exam, documenting findings, and preparing a plan of care in a timely manner, including prescribing medications and ordering appropriate tests/procedures. The APP will also attend, participate in, and contribute to group/practice meetings, development of policies and procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program.
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have a master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice.
  • Certification as an Acute care NP from a nationally recognized certifying body is required.
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs is required.
  • North Carolina license.
  • North Carolina DEA.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS required.
  • Interpersonal skills must be demonstrated.
  • Critical thinking must be demonstrated.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of APP experience preferred.
  • Post graduate Pulmonary Medicine fellowship and/or Pulmonary Medicine experience is a plus.
  • Interest in preventive medicine.
