About The Position

Medcor is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for an employer-based clinic in Ankeny, IA. This PRN (as needed) day shift position (6 AM - 2:30 PM) is located in a manufacturing facility, focusing on occupational health and acute/episodic care. It is not a full-time job and offers no guaranteed hours, but invites applications from those available for occasional shifts. The NP/PA will deliver primary clinical care in an occupational and urgent care health clinic, collaborating with Medcor's medical and operational leadership, other advocates, and client contacts. The day-to-day role involves close cooperation with on-site medical staff and a focus on team care. Services include diagnosis and treatment of workers' compensation injuries and illnesses, urgent care, surveillance and regulatory exams, and preventative services. The position works closely with a Medcor employed oversight physician and Medcor Clinical Affairs and Operations.

Requirements

  • valid unrestricted licensure
  • current DEA & BLS certifications
  • DOT certification (may be obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • strong computer skills and familiarity with EMR software
  • positive and outgoing personality, and be a collaborative team player
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills   with patients, clients and colleagues
  • willing to go above and beyond to give excellent customer service
  • comfortable working in an on-site clinic environment
  • occupational health experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide superior clinical care and customer service to Medcor 's client and employees
  • Treat injuries and illnesses following Evidence Based Medicine standards
  • Pre-placement exams
  • Medical surveillance
  • DOT examinations
  • Return to work evaluations for non-work and work related injuries
  • Build and maintain internal team relationships
  • Collaborate with client professionals in health, safety and environmental practices
  • Collaborate with client human resources and benefits professionals on clinical issues
  • Support client 's wellness and preventative programs
  • Document and manage information using state-of-the-art EMR and other tools
  • Patient education regarding medical conditions and treatment options
  • Patient coaching regarding healthy behaviors
