About The Position

This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an advanced practice provider (APP) to join the Outpatient Hematology team at Mayo Clinic. The APP will be an integral member of the group practice, caring for adult patients with bleeding and clotting disorders, including hemophilia, thrombosis, and those at increased risk for thrombosis, such as patients with concurrent or newly diagnosed malignancy. The role may also involve cross-coverage for other nonmalignant hematology conditions. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, diagnosis and prognostic interpretation, and developing treatment plans or providing recommendations. Outpatient care encompasses new patient consultations and follow-up of patients with established hematologic conditions. The APP will develop expertise through a comprehensive, supportive orientation process and will be trained to work autonomously within a supportive team environment.

Requirements

Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program OR graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current Minnesota RN license and certification as a FNP, ANP or ACNP (for NPs).
Current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice (for PAs).
Eligible for DEA registration.
Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Care for adult patients with bleeding and clotting disorders, including hemophilia and thrombosis.
Manage patients at increased risk for thrombosis, including those with concurrent or newly diagnosed malignancy.
Provide cross-coverage for other nonmalignant hematology conditions.
Perform comprehensive patient assessment.
Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiologic exams.
Provide diagnosis and prognostic interpretation.
Develop treatment plans or provide recommendations to referring providers.
Conduct new patient consultations and follow-up of patients with established hematologic conditions.
Participate in research and quality improvement projects.
Educate and mentor students and colleagues by serving as a preceptor.
Participate in journal club.
Provide poster and oral presentations.
