This position is for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Neurology, working 0.6-0.8 FTE. The role involves diagnosing and managing preventive, acute, and chronic healthcare conditions within the neurology specialty. Expectations include maintaining a professional and ethical code of conduct, acting as a culturally sensitive advocate for diverse populations, and demonstrating excellent communication skills. The NP/PA will work autonomously and in partnership with the healthcare team, manage time and stress effectively, and adapt to unpredictable situations. Proficiency in electronic medical records is required, and the role may involve teaching and counseling individuals, families, and groups. Participation in health policy activities, committee work, and research is also expected as indicated. The position requires obtaining and documenting accurate patient health history, providing appropriate patient education, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, and performing procedures specific to the area of practice. Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, discussing assessments and treatment options with patients, and prescribing medications and equipment are key responsibilities. Collaboration with other healthcare clinicians is also a part of the role.
