About The Position

Provide neurology services to patients, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic diseases. Services include obtaining pertinent history, performing examinations, ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory tests and prescribing appropriate medications and treatment. Makes all professional medical judgments in care of patients seen.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Nursing (for Nurse Practitioner)
  • New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license (for Nurse Practitioner)
  • Federal and state DEA license (for Nurse Practitioner)
  • ANCC or AANP certification (for Nurse Practitioner)
  • Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant (for Physician Assistant)
  • Two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant (for Physician Assistant)
  • Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners (for Physician Assistant)

Responsibilities

  • Makes all professional medical judgments in the care of patients seen.
  • Manages the physician/patient relationship.
  • Participates in system wide health management initiatives.
  • Provides input into the practice sites financial, clinical, and service quality performance; budget; capital plan; and personnel issues.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of clinical and service standards.
  • Receives and resolves patient complaints.
  • Participates in the recruitment and replacement of other providers.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature review, in-services, and workshops.
  • Advises other providers regarding optimal and cost-effective treatment of patients with endocrine disorders.
  • Manage acute and chronic diseases.
  • Order, conduct and interpret appropriate diagnostic x-ray and lab tests.
  • Prescribe treatments medications and non-pharmacologic therapies.
  • Involved in teaching and counseling individuals, families and groups.
  • Work autonomously as well as collaborate with other health care providers as needed.
  • Serve as health care resources, interdisciplinary consultants and patient advocate.
