About The Position

This role is within the Care Transition Unit (CTU), where Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) manage high-volume, rapid-turnover patients with a focus on diagnostic clarity, evidence-based protocols, timely disposition, and efficient patient flow between emergency, observation, and inpatient pathways. APPs practice with substantial autonomy and serve as core clinical leaders within interdisciplinary teams, delivering care through a combination of in-person and virtual workflows for medically complex adult patients.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of prior NPPA experience is required
  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.
  • Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date
  • DEA registration required

Responsibilities

  • Admit, transfer, and manage hospitalized and observation patients
  • Perform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and daily clinical assessments
  • Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic and therapeutic studies
  • Formulate diagnoses and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Lead inpatient and observation care plans, including escalation and de-escalation decisions
  • Coordinate care with consultants, nursing, and ancillary services
  • Educate patients and caregivers and lead discharge planning
  • Prescribe medications and perform minor procedures as indicated
  • Ensure age-appropriate, patient-centered, and evidence-based care
  • Engage in clinical innovation, education, quality improvement, and research
