About The Position

The Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato General Surgery/Trauma Department is hiring for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner. The current practice consists of 5 General Surgeons, including trauma, bariatric, and colorectal surgeons as well as 5 NP/PA’s. Due to relocation, the practice is looking to replace a PA/NP to maintain practice standards. The role would be include operative first assist, inpatient management, and ambulatory care patient responsibilities. During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as an FNP or ACNP.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.
  • Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years' experience preferred.
  • Previous first assist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patient evaluations, such as, consultations and post-surgical care
  • Functioning as first assist in the operating room
  • Acute management of patients during level red trauma activations
  • Ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests
  • Formulating a diagnostic impression
  • Developing and implementing a treatment plan
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
  • Prescription of pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapies
  • Operative first assist
  • Inpatient management
  • Ambulatory care patient responsibilities
