About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking a motivated and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join their established cardiology practice. This role involves working collaboratively with cardiologists and experienced Advanced Practice Providers to deliver exceptional cardiovascular care. The PA or NP will be responsible for a complete scope of care for cardiology patients, including analyzing pathophysiology, developing diagnoses, formulating treatment plans, evaluating patient response, and utilizing evidence-based medicine. Patients will be seen in a clinic-only setting or in both hospital and clinic settings. Responsibilities include educating patients and families on cardiovascular disease, primary and secondary cardiac prevention, and addressing patients' emotional, physical, and cultural needs. Effective communication and presentation skills with the interdisciplinary team are essential. The position may also involve occasional outreach clinic coverage in Southern Minnesota after onboarding and training. This is a 1.0 FTE position with two options: Option 1 is Cardiology Clinic only (M-F, 8 am-5 pm, no weekends or holidays). Option 2 involves seeing patients in both hospital and clinic settings, including hospital weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP or ANP.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current PA certification by NCCPA.
  • Registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.
  • Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date.
  • DEA registration required.

  • New Graduates (external): at least 2 letters must be from clinical preceptors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a complete scope of care for cardiology patients in a collaborative team effort.
  • Analyze pathophysiology for various cardiovascular disease processes.
  • Develop cardiovascular diagnoses and formulate treatment plans.
  • Evaluate patient response to treatment.
  • Utilize evidence-based medicine practices for quality, cost-effective care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding cardiovascular disease process, including primary and secondary cardiac prevention.
  • Remain cognizant of the patient's emotional, physical, and cultural needs.
  • Provide effective communication and presentation skills with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide occasional outreach clinic coverage to Southern Minnesota (after a minimum of 12 months, upon completion of successful onboarding and training).
