About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner – Oncology for an exciting contract opportunity in Syracuse, NY. The Nurse Practitioner will provide advanced clinical care to oncology patients, performing comprehensive assessments, developing treatment plans, and collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and experience managing complex patient populations in an acute care or oncology setting.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner License/Registration (or eligibility required).
  • Specialty certification aligned with NP scope of practice in New York State.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Current ACLS Certification.
  • Medicare NPI Number or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Minimum 1 year of Nurse Practitioner experience.
  • Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and patient management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment health clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior inpatient or acute care experience.
  • Experience working within physician-led collaborative care models.
  • Familiarity with oncology treatment protocols and supportive care management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical examination, and ongoing clinical evaluations.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians to develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans.
  • Manage patient care with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining collaborative physician oversight.
  • Evaluate diagnostic findings and monitor patient responses to treatment interventions.
  • Document patient encounters, assessments, treatment plans, and follow-up care accurately and timely.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and ongoing care plans.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with New York State Nurse Practitioner regulations.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences and treatment planning discussions.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.
