About The Position

Urology of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide office-based care within their Acute Care clinical model. This model allows for 'same day/next day' appointments for patients with urgent urological conditions such as kidney stones, hematuria, infection, and urinary retention. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with supporting physicians to determine intervention and follow-up needs, with opportunities to be involved in procedural care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Licensure in the state of Virginia

  • Demonstrate a high degree of general medical and urological knowledge and exercise independent judgment as appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patient’s medical conditions (Ex: kidney stones, hematuria, infection, urinary retention, etc.) by completion of a urological examination
  • Document appropriately and communicate with the appropriate physician in a timely manner as required, including, but not limited to: evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, treatment notes, and other reports as requested
  • Order and evaluate laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications and devices based on the patient’s medical condition
  • Develop and perform treatment plans in accordance with established protocols
  • Order physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or home health care as appropriate
  • Perform acute office-based procedures as trained
