About The Position
This position is for a Nurse Practitioner in the Neurosurgery/Neuro IR department at Texas Health Plano. The hospital is a 386-bed, full-service facility serving North Texas, specializing in areas such as emergency medicine, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, and advanced orthopedics. Texas Health Plano is a Level II Trauma Facility with designations for Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal care, and a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. It is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital with a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program and an AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit. The role involves delivering high-quality patient care, participating in a supportive team environment with opportunities for growth, and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree
- Graduate of Nurse Practitioner program required
- 1 year experience as Nurse Practitioner preferred
- Acute Care certification highly preferred
- 1 year experience in Neuro preferred
- NP – Nurse Practitioner upon hire required
Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical exams on new and established patients and those being seen for follow up appointments.
- Consult with the supervising physician as needed.
- Provide follow up and health maintenance care to patients in accordance with established protocols or specific instructions from the supervising physician.
- Initiate appropriate treatment and testing required for evaluation of illness based on training and experience.
- Provide counseling and instruction to patients regarding health related issues.
- Document clinical care of the patient according to established guidelines.
- Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by training and experience and as directed by the supervising physician.
- Communicate with patients and family members within state law confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines concerning health related questions.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement process and other initiatives in the area of employees practice.
