About The Position
The Hampton - Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking an Autonomous Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to conduct weekend medical histories and physical exams (H&Ps) for individuals admitted for crisis stabilization. This role also includes on-call support for medical needs. The BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center, opened in 2025, is a state-of-the-art facility supporting individuals experiencing acute mental health crises, including the Regional Crisis Stabilization program, a 16-bed unit for adults (18+) with acute mental health or co-occurring substance use crises.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing
- Autonomous Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN - FNP) license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing
- Empathy

- Capacity to think critically under pressure
Responsibilities
- Conduct medical histories and physical exams (H&Ps) for patients admitted for crisis stabilization within 24 hours of admission.
- Provide on-call medical support during weekends.
