About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide direct psychiatric care to patients within the inpatient psychiatric service. This role involves conducting psychiatric evaluations, managing medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The NP will report to the Director of Medical Services and must maintain a collaborating physician and supervisory agreement as required by the Kentucky Board of Nursing for medication prescribing. The position also requires maintaining compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and hospital regulations.

Requirements

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Kentucky.
  • Collaborating physician and supervisory agreement for medication prescribing (as required by Kentucky Board of Nursing).
  • Experience with KASPER account maintenance.
  • Ability to conduct psychiatric evaluations and consultations.
  • Proficiency in medication management and prescription.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and funding agency requirements for treatment plans.
  • Experience in preparing and updating treatment plans, goals, and objectives.
  • Ability to administer injectable medications.
  • Experience in discharge planning and referrals.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and hospital regulations related to psychiatric services.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations.
  • Provide medications/prescription management and complete related documentation.
  • Maintain a KASPER account with a delegate.
  • Perform psychiatric review and sign all treatment plans as required by regulatory and funding agencies.
  • Provide psychiatric consultations.
  • Complete admission psychiatric histories within regulatory time frames.
  • Provide diagnosis.
  • Administer injectable medications as indicated.
  • Prepare and update treatment plans, goals, and objectives.
  • Participate in discharge planning and referrals.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including outpatient psychiatric services.
  • Lead and/or participate in weekly treatment team meetings.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all applicable Federal, State, and hospital regulations and provide services in compliance with these regulations.
