As a Cardiac Surgery APP Hospitalist, you will practice alongside a seasoned team of cardiac surgery APPs who provide mentorship, clinical support, and a collaborative environment that fosters both professional growth and clinical excellence. Working with substantial autonomy, you will manage patients throughout their inpatient cardiac surgery journey, from admission through discharge, while partnering with pharmacists, nurses, WashU Medicine surgeons, and fellows to deliver outstanding care. Preferred clinical rotations or experience include cardiac surgery, CVICU/ICU with high-acuity cardiac patient populations, cardiac step-down/progressive care units, cardiac PCUs, or inpatient cardiac surgery settings. Role Purpose The nurse practitioner functions within their scope of practice as a healthcare provider, working within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families across practice settings. They demonstrate a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered within the inpatient setting. The role demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice. They work with staff, nurses, physicians, and medical/surgical trainees to assure safe, effective, quality patient care. The position requires coverage of evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
