About The Position

Coordinates and provides care for a group of patients spanning all age groups and cultures for a designated time frame using therapeutic means, the laboratory process, the environment/instrumentation and other health care team members while assuming responsibility and accountability for these patients. Responsibilities include providing patient care in an ambulatory care setting under the clinical supervision of a physician or MD within the guidelines of nursing process and nurse practitioner protocols as outlined in Patient Care Guidelines for Nurse Practitioners. The role involves approximately 60-70% administrative work, including inbox management (messages, refills, referrals, results, portal messages) with supervision, and 30-40% direct patient care, which may include same-day urgent care visits, physicals, and ED follow-ups. This position requires flexibility for daily travel between sites and is primarily to cover leaves of absence and departures, deploying to other areas based on business needs. Clinical supervision and support will be provided when seeing patients at different sites.

Requirements

  • Master in Science in Nursing/Nurse Practitioner
  • CPR certification
  • MA NP license
  • DEA & Mass Controlled Substance Registration
  • Graduate of an accredited school, master prepared with a degree as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Massachusetts licensure
  • Departmental specialized training to provide care to patients within role
  • Successful completion of SMH orientation program
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
